Supporting Ocean Gate Ministries’ Pastor David Manila’s Outreach to the Residents of the Dream Center Discipleship Program.

The Dream Center’s Outreach Programs also provide free assistance to those struggling in the surrounding communities in the form of food, clothing, furniture, childrens’ programs and more. This inner city missionary work extends weekly into the Nickerson Garden Housing Project and other impoverished areas in and beyond South L.A.

Ocean Gate Ministries (OCM) is dedicated to fostering growth and compassion through its diverse outreach programs. Their youth group promotes personal and intellectual development through workshops, teamwork, and community service, while their Food Distribution Program combats food insecurity in Los Angeles by providing 1,500 to 2,000 items monthly. They also support the homeless, assist seniors, and spread holiday cheer by providing meals and gifts. In their Men’s and Women’s Homes, they offer structured support, mentoring, and spiritual growth, empowering individuals on their path to positive transformation.

OCM, although based in the City of Hawthorne,  shares the distribution of their resources with many of the churches in Compton, South L.A, and other neighboring communities.

SEPTEMBER 2023

Blessed to worship with the members of RLA (Restoration Los Angeles) Church, the largest Hispanic church in the city, and to meet and begin coordinating with their joyfully dedicated Senior Pastor, Rene Molina. Connected to this thriving ministry is RestoreLA-CDC, a  growing Community Development Center through which social services are shared with the many local residents of West Adams and beyond.

Connection was also established with, English Ministry Pastor Rene Molina, Jr. who recommended a wonderful book entitled “Streets of Gold: America’s Untold Story of Immigrant Success“. This well researched book “grounded in deep original research and made lively by moving personal accounts” is written by professors from both Stanford and Princeton University. With extensive undeniable data, this book proves that immigrants (past and present), in contradiction to certain political narratives, continue to increase the social and financial health of our nation.

Their mission is simple. “to impact the lives of teens with the love of Christ”, and yes, by the grace of God… they are getting it done.

Having spent time in the midst of this fun-filled energetic work of God on two separate occassions, we have found it to be the most effective model of youth outreach. It is our prayer and our intention to help this way of reaching youth with youth to grow and be duplicated all across the inner cities of our nation.
