About

We forge alliances with faith leaders, social service agencies, and various partners to relentlessly eradicate homelessness and breathe life into distressed communities within our inner cities, commencing right here in Compton and South Los Angeles.

The Savior's Ambassadors Laboring Together

"Transforming Cities, Restoring Lives."

Where did it all begin?

This work began as the COVID-19 pandemic was turning our nation upside down. What was that like for you? For us, at the end of March 2020, the church that we had attended for so many years was officially closed. There we sat, as the pastor took off his shoe and shook off its dust against the 4 million souls living in the City of Los Angeles.

Step back four years and we find God calling for us to go out and begin this work. He called through a heaven sent revival. He called in the stillness and deep groanings of prayer. He especially called through our Lord’s parable of the talents, and continued calling throughout the rest of his powerful Word. He called until the church had closed. He called until a worldwide and then nationwide pandemic began. He called until every last excuse was swept away.

Why do we exist?

And so, as churches across America (out of concern for their fellow man and as ordered by the government) began closing their doors, we began meeting online. And where are we today?

Ours is the 2nd largest city in the United States, with New York barely in the lead. The concerns of our inner city (and others in the U.S.) are either laughed at by the rest of the nation, or used as source material for sordid cinema. Meanwhile, the devil is laughing, but God is not.

“And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it.” (Luke 19:41)

There are over 4 million people in the city and 10 million in the county of Los Angeles. We have the largest population of homelessness in the nation. Immorality, promiscuity, suicide, and crime continue as part of our trademark. Meanwhile, we are said to have “a church on every corner” (in fact, often three to four within a city block). Stranger still, missionaries avoid our unreached people groups while preferring to reach the UPGs of other nations; and church planters who do come to “Los Angeles” turn up planted in our brighter (and whiter) suburbs.

Who are the S.A.L.T.?

The S.A.L.T. (Savior’s Ambassadors Laboring Together) is a nonprofit with a mission to eradicate homelessness and restore broken communities in our inner cities through faith-based partnerships.

Inspired by a movement begun in 2006 by the Underground Network that continues to sweep across the nation, we have, during this past year, far exceeded preliminary goals to begin establishing church-based Community Development Hubs in 2024. Based in Compton and South L.A., each of these Hubs work out of an established local church. From there, residents affected by problems leading to homelessness will be connected to both available services and to the support of a local faith-based community.

Our current success includes a rapidly growing collaboration of over 180 faith leaders and over 150 social service agencies, with a strong core of 15 dedicated members on our team.

We need you!

  • If you have a vision to reach a particular group of people in your inner city, let us help you start a faith-based nonprofit organization.
  • If you are a pastor who cares for the community around you, let us help you start a community development center as an outreaching branch of your church ministry.
  • If you would like to support this rebuilding of local inner city communities that is taking place right now, then yes, please partner with us.

Come do all that you can for Christ. Come be the missionary. Come be the movement.

~ Common questions which you may be asking about the S.A.L.T. ~

We stand for the Lord Jesus Christ, and are therefore the Savior’s Ambassadors Laboring Together, a name which we believe biblically clarifies us as Christians who

  • Belong to the Savior,
  • Represent the Savior,
  • Serve the Savior, and
  • Work together with others to constructively share the Savior’s love in their community.

Yes, we are Christians – who have simply made clear who we are and what we must do.

To eradicate homelessness and restore broken communities in our inner cities through faith-based partnerships.

We see formerly criminalized impoverished areas, once plagued by a disconnection that resulted in homelessness transformed into functionally productive communities that  trancend the stereotypical expectancies of life in the inner cities of America and instead exude a risen functionality that is rooted in faith, grounded in family, and thriving in unified purpose… at last!

The S.A.L.T. (Savior’s Ambassadors Laboring Together) aims to accomplish the mission of empowering inner city outreach work through a multifaceted approach. Here are some key elements:

  1. Strategic Partnerships: The S.A.L.T. collaborates with churches, Christian ministries, and local organizations to form strong partnerships. These alliances enhance the collective impact of outreach efforts.
  2. Community Engagement: The S.A.L.T. plan involves active engagement with the community. Understanding the unique needs, challenges, and aspirations of the residents is crucial for effective outreach.
  3. Training and Resources: The S.A.L.T. provides training programs and resources to equip individuals involved in outreach work. This includes practical skills, spiritual guidance, and knowledge to address the diverse needs of the inner city population.
  4. Empowerment Through Education: The plan emphasizes education as a tool for empowerment. This includes educational initiatives for children, youth, and adults, fostering personal and community development.
  5. Holistic Support: The S.A.L.T. recognizes the importance of addressing both the spiritual and practical aspects of individuals’ lives. This involves providing emotional support, counseling, and practical assistance such as job training and housing support.
  6. Advocacy and Awareness: The S.A.L.T. advocates for the needs of the inner city population at various levels. Raising awareness about issues affecting the community is an essential part of the plan.
  7. Sustainable Solutions: The plan incorporates strategies for long-term impact. This includes sustainable development projects, economic empowerment initiatives, and efforts to break systemic cycles of poverty.

By implementing these elements, the S.A.L.T. plan seeks to create a positive and lasting transformation in the inner cities, starting with South Los Angeles and Compton.

  • Partnering with the S.A.L.T. to support inner city outreach work is a collaborative and impactful way to make a difference. Here’s how you can initiate a partnership:
