An Urgent Call to Pray for Our Nation, 2021
(A special message for House Church and individual use: preached 2/7 – 2/13/2021)
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”
(Psalm 9:17)
Introduction
Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, friends and citizens of our nation, we call you to join with us each day to pray!
I. You have forgotten God!
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Psalm 9:17)
A. You trusted in yourselves.
“And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:” (Luke 18:9)
B. You trusted in this world.
“Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.” (Psalm 52:7)
C. You trusted the physicians.
“And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.” (2 Chronicles 16:12)
II. There is only one hope left!
“They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.” (Psalm 22:5)
A. Cry aloud to God!
“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” (Psalm 55:17)
B. Repent before God!
“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.” (Jonah 3:5)
C. Beg God for underserved mercy.
“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” (Jonah 3:10)
Conclusion
“Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.” (Psalm 123:3)
