A Movement of God

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Faith Summit

The Faith Collaborative to End Homelessness's (FCEH) mission is to coordinate and strengthen partnerships with Faith Based Organizations (FBOs).

Through the summit, FCEH aims to convene critical community partners to strengthen the impact or our collective efforts to serve and house our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

JULY 2024

Featured guest speaker at the UNNC (United Neighbors Neighborhood Council) which is a Governing Board consisting of 23 Board seats.  12 board seats are designated for residents of the six region areas within the neighborhood council boundaries (see map page) and 11 seats are for non-resident stakeholders such as business, education, non-profit, cultural heritage, and at-large interests.

During today’s meeting, access to an abundance of resources were shared as well as the CES (Coordinated Entry System) “the network that aligns homeless services in the County together to ensure that resources are efficiently and equitably distributed to support people experiencing homelesness.”

We are excited about this commenced partnership with the UNNC. Hallelujah! Our city continues to rise.

UNNC, Arlington Heights, Los Angeles, CA – July 25, 2024

Assisted in conducting the Veterans & Family Community Appreciation Day, hosted by Rev. Henry Brown, Community Outreach Coordinator for Veterans at the Southeast Los Angeles WorkSource Center, based at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC).

For over 60 years, WLCAC has been providing an array of human services to the residents of Watts. Realizing the need for skills training and employment opportunities lead to the creation of their Job Training and Employment Division. Specifically, its WorkSource and YouthSource Centers provide these services free of charge to employer and job seekers. Their Workforce Development Department manages 6 grants that focus on providing job placement, reentry specific services and programs, employment retention, and vocational training for their clients.

Rev. Brown, who leads this effort, remains one of the most outspoken and dedicated advocates for Veterans Services. We are truly blessed to partner with this dear brother in serving those who have bravely served to protect our freedom.

Men’s Fellowship is a continuous, fervent call for men in our community to partner with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in effectively administering Foster Youth Family Mediation, serving as Cultural Brokers.

This is a vital role in bridging gaps between diverse cultural perspectives within foster families. This approach helps to mediate conflicts, enhance understanding, and create more harmonious relationships by respecting and integrating the cultural backgrounds of both the youth and their families.

Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Orlando Hadnot, Holy Tabernacle MBC stands as one of the strongest forces for lasting social improvement in Los Angeles, particularly in the prominent area of Ladera Heights.

Again, please, at the minimum, schedule once or twice a year on your calendar to respectfully attend these and other sessions conducted by your elected officials… and let your voice be heard.

Canvassed the Entire South Figueroa Corridor and created a database of all churches, service agencies, and related businesses. This database has now been submitted to the LAPD Southeast Division Clergy Council. The project was conducted towards the advancement of an active collaborate between the local faith centers, secular businesses, and law enforcement agents to assist in bringing an end to the decades long stronghold of Human Trafficking that has continued to victimize the youth of our city for far too long

South Figueroa Corridor (Figueroa Street, between Gage Avenue & Imperial Highway), South Los Angeles – March 10, 2024

Participated in the Emergency Volunteer Ballot Blitz along with attendees from all SPA 6 service agencies. On this day, we worked to further ensure a sufficient collection of needed signatures in order to place a proposed replacement of Measure H (which is ending soon) before local voters.

HOPICS Crocker Offices, South Los Angeles – March 9, 2024

During our attendance at the LAPD Southeast Clergy Council’s Outdoor Coffee with a Cop event (held on the sidewalk in front of a 7-Eleven store notorious for being frequented by both victims and perpetrators of human trafficking along the South Figueroa Corridor), we had the opportunity to meet and assist a young man (whose face is hidden above to protect his privacy).

He had experienced financial hardship, which led to theft and subsequent incarceration. He was released from prison the day before and had spent his first night sleeping on the streets. He expected to do the same for his second night until he encountered us.

We were blessed to provide him with transportation to the nearby Council District 8 Homeless Navigation Center (CD 8 Nav Ctr), where he immediately gained access to fully enclosed showers, a complete laundromat, fresh clothing, secured storage for his belongings, and, most importantly, intake assistance for emergency housing, employment, trauma recovery, and other services. These resources will help guide him toward becoming a productive member of society, as love and care often do.

Hallelujah!

“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” (1 John 3:17)

Blessed to worship with the members of RLA (Restoration Los Angeles) Church, the largest Hispanic church in the city, and to meet and begin coordinating with their joyfully dedicated Senior Pastor, Rene Molina. Connected to this thriving ministry is RestoreLA-CDC, a  growing Community Development Center through which social services are shared with the many local residents of West Adams and beyond.

Connection was also established with, English Ministry Pastor Rene Molina, Jr. who recommended a wonderful book entitled “Streets of Gold: America’s Untold Story of Immigrant Success“. This well researched book “grounded in deep original research and made lively by moving personal accounts” is written by professors from both Stanford and Princeton University. With extensive undeniable data, this book proves that immigrants (past and present), in contradiction to certain political narratives, continue to increase the social and financial health of our nation.

Their mission is simple. “to impact the lives of teens with the love of Christ”, and yes, by the grace of God… they are getting it done.

Having spent time in the midst of this fun-filled energetic work of God on two separate occassions, we have found it to be the most effective model of youth outreach. It is our prayer and our intention to help this way of reaching youth with youth to grow and be duplicated all across the inner cities of our nation.
