His Vision

" Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger. "
Jesus Christ Our Lord
Lamentation 1:12

“Is it nothing to you?”

This is the vision. God’s vision. The greatest vision on Earth. Indeed, the greatest vision among men since it is the vision of the Son of Man (who is also the Son of God, who is also the Savior of the World) and therefore of all men who will “believe on his name.”

But “is it nothing to you?” It is as nothing if you go about seeking a “higher call.” As the Lord Jesus laments and divinely accused, “Except ye see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” And in another place,

But he answered and said unto them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matthew 12:39-40)

Is this vision, his vision “nothing you you” that you pick about and stall before your Savior, your Master, your Lord who loved you so much and gave you so much and

  • kept himself alive to die a death that no mere man could die, and
  • took away the sins that no mere man could take away, and
  • stayed upon a cross that belonged to you when he could have come down in any moment, and
  • instead remained and conquered sin and death and Hell and sorrow and the Devil and an eternity of torment that truly belongs to you?
Is it nothing to you? Is it not enough? Will the faith you placed on him beneath the Cross be not enough for you to lift up your eyes and fill your gaze with the absolute universe-filling greatest sign, greatest vision, greatest calling you could ever be given to “Go!”
Stop passing by!

You. “All ye that pass by” means you. Stop. Pharisee, Roman, religious, irreligious and thief… stop!
If God placed your sins and the sins of all mankind upon his only begotten Son, sacrificed him for us, allowed him to then raise himself back up from the grave, and then (even more so) go on to give out eternal salvation freely to all who simply truly believe – then why is that not enough for you?
The truth is that you have been called from the pages of Scripture every day of your life! For over two thousand years he has called all of us and your turn began the day you were born.
He has called and you have refused. He still calls. Will you still refuse?
