Jesus Makes Men

Jesus Makes Men

(Training message for House Church and individual use: preached 5/2 – 5/8/2021)

“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:”

(Acts 2:14)

Introduction

By Acts 2:14 they were full of God, filled with his Holy Spirit, powerfully sharing their testimony. Yes, overcoming the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.

But what about where they began. What about where they were in Luke 24:11 and where the Lord Jesus took them, inside their soul, to get them to that great and profoundly pivotal moment in the history of the world and the universe?

“And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.” (Luke 24:11)

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?” (Joshua 7:10)

Step I: You are rebuked [and preached against] by the Lord Jesus Christ!

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:” (Luke 24:25)

  • “Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
  • “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:26-27)

Step II: You are revealed by the Lord Jesus Christ!

“And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?” (Luke 24:38)

Step III: You are refuted by the Lord Jesus Christ!

“And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?” (Luke 24:41)

Step IV: You have the understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,” (Luke 24:45)

Step V: You have the story of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 25:46-47)

Step VI: You have the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“And ye are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:48)

Step VII: You have the power of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” (Luke 25:49)

Conclusion

Get up! Stand up! Be a man! Be a man of God!!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” (Ephesians 6:10)

  • “…Stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)
  • “…Withstand in the evil day.” (Ephesians 6:13)
  • “…And having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13)
  • “Stand therefore…” (Ephesians 6:14)

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?” (Joshua 7:10)
