The Lord’s Prayer - Preached!

“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
(Matthew 6:9-13)
Introduction
“After this manner therefore pray ye:” (Matthew 6:9a)
I. God in Heaven!
“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” (Matthew 6:9b)
- “Our Father.”
- “Which art in heaven.”
- “Hallowed be thy name.”
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)
II. Heaven on earth!
“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)
- “Thy kingdom come.”
- “Thy will be done in earth.”
- “As it is in heaven.”
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
III. Gifts from Heaven!
“Give us this day our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:11)
- “Give us.”
- “This day.”
- “Our daily bread.”
“For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:8)
“Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” (James 4:2)
IV. Mercy from Heaven!
“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” (Matthew 6:10)
- “And forgive us our debts.”
- “As we forgive our debtors.”
“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” (John 8:7)
V. Deliverance from Heaven!
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:” (Matthew 6:11a)
- “And lead us not into temptation.”
- “But deliver us from evil.”
“And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” (Luke 22:30-32)
Conclusion: God in Heaven!
“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:13b)
- “But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.” (Numbers 14:21)
