Introduction

What is Christmas?

I. The birth of Christ was foretold!

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

     A. It was prophesied that he would be the Son of Man.

“And she shall bring forth a son,”

  • Numbers 23:19: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:”
  • Job 25:6: “How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?”
  • Psalm 8:4: “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”
  • Isaiah 51:12: “I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;”

     B. It was prophesied that he would be the Son of God.

“And thou shalt call his name Jesus:”

  • Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

     C. It was prophesied that he would be the Savior of the World.

“For he shall save his people from their sins.”

II. The birth of Christ took place!

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)

     A. He is still being born in men, today.

“For unto you is born this day”

     B. He is still being born in the hearts of men, today.

“In the city of David”

     C. He is still being born in the hearts of men to save from sin, today!

“A Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

III. The birth of Christ still repeats throughout the human race!

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3:7)

     A. God calls you to come to Jesus!

“Marvel not that I said unto thee,”

     B. God commands you to come to Jesus!

“Ye must be”

     C. God convinces you to come to Jesus!

“Born again.”

Conclusion

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

  • Jesus paid for your sins on the cross.
    • “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:”
