The Rock

(Mid-week message for House Church and individual use: preached 12/5 – 12/11/2021)

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

(Matthew 16:18)

Introduction: Jesus wants you… for what? What will he do with you?

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)

I. You will be a real man.

“Thou art Peter,” (Matthew 16:18)

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30)

II. You will be a strong man.

“Upon this rock I will build my church;” (Matthew 16:18)

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:38)

III. You will be a successful man.

“The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

Conclusion: You will be a soldier.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11)

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16)

OUTLINE:
