“This Same Jesus”

"This Same Jesus"

(Sunday message for House Church and individual use: preached 10/10 – 10/16/2021)

“And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, ‘Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

(Acts 1:10-11)

Introduction: Let us stand with angels!

“And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;” (Acts 1:10)

“Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?” (Acts 1:11a)

I. Jesus is revealed in the Bible!

“This same Jesus,” (Acts 1:11b)

II. Jesus was and is again in Heaven!

“Which is taken up from you into heaven,” (Acts 1:11c)

III. Jesus is coming again!

“Shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11c)

Conclusion: Jesus saves!

  • You crucified him!

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
(Acts 2:36)

  • You must wake up!

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)

  • You must turn to Jesus… now!

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)

  • Repentance (Christianity) – is a stage in Christian salvation where the believer turns away from sin.
  • Baptize – The Greek words are used in a great variety of meanings. βάπτω and βαπτίζω in Hellenism had the general usage of “immersion,” “going under” (as a material in a liquid dye) or “perishing” (as in a ship sinking or a person drowning), with the same double meanings as in English “to sink into” or “to be overwhelmed by,” with bathing or washing only occasionally used and usually in sacral contexts.
  • Remissionrelease from duty; freeing of captives; mercy, pardon, respite; forgiveness; release from or reduction of penances.
