(A Message to the Ministers)
(Preached Saturday Evening, May 2, 2020)
“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.”
(Luke 17:22)
“Then said Jesus unto him, ‘Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.”
(John 4:48)
Preacher, why should you stop preaching for revival?
I. Because it’s not about signs!
“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.” (Luke 17:22)
- “And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the Lord smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.” (1 Samuel 4:3)
- “He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.” (2 Kings 18:4)
Preacher, why should you stop preaching for revival?
II. Because it’s not about wonders!
“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.” (Luke 17:22)
- “And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.” (Matthew 23:30)
- “And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.” (Luke 21:37)
Preacher, why should you stop preaching for revival?
III. Because it’s not about you!
“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.” (Luke 17:22)
- “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
“For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
“When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel [That would have included you if you had been living in that day.].” (Matthew 8:8-10)
- “The other disciples therefore said unto him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said unto them, ‘Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” (John 20:25)
Preacher, why should you stop preaching for revival?
IV. Because it’s not about your church!
“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.” (Luke 17:22)
- “And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.

- “He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.” (Matthew 27:42)
Preacher, why should you stop preaching for revival?

“And he said unto the disciples, ‘The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.” (Luke 17:22)
- “And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.” (Exodus 3:14)

- “Art thou the Christ? tell us.’ And he said unto them, ‘If I tell you, ye will not believe: and if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.” (Acts 22:67-69)
