You Have Been Sent, Not Called! (Written, explained but not preached.)

“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.”
(Luke 10:1)
Introduction
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1)

I. Not called, “sent… two and two.”
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1)
- “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)
- “Andrew and Phlip” (John 12:22) = Best friends!
- “Paul and Barnabas” (Acts 13:43) = Barnabas got/took Paul!
- “Paul and Silas” (Acts 15:40) = Paul took Silas!
- “James and John” (Mark 1:29) = Take your brother? Sure!
- “Two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother,” (Matthew 4:18)
- “And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,” (Matthew 4:21)
- “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
- “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven…” (Matthew 6:9)
II. Not called, “sent… before his face.”
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1)
- “Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, ‘Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee.’ And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.” (Luke 8:38-39)
- “Behold, I send you forth…” (Matthew 10:16)
- “then sent Jesus two disciples,…” (Matthew 21:1)
- “These twelve Jesus sent forth…” (Matthew 10:5)
- “And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.” (Mark 12:5)
III. Not called, “sent… into every city and place.”
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1)
- “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)
- “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world…” (Mark 16:15)
- “Ye shall be witnesses unto me… unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
- “And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.” (Acts 6:1)
- “As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.” (Acts 8:3-4)
IV. Not called, “sent… whither he himself would come.”

- “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.” (Matthew 25:6)
- “After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.” (Matthew 25:19)
- “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” (Matthew 25:31)
Conclusion: Now… “Go!”
“After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” (Luke 10:1)
Jesus said, “Go out!”
- “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Luke 14:23)
Jesus said, “Go out!” And so they “went out!”
- “So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.” (Matthew 22:10)
- “Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.” (Matthew 22:9)
Jesus said, “Ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost”, but for what?
- “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” (Acts 1:4-5)
Jesus said, “Ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.” Jesus said, “Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”
- Why? To “be witnesses unto me [him].”
- How? To go out…
- Into your local community. (“Jerusalem”)
- Into your entire community. (“Judaea”)
- Into nearby communities. (“Samaria”)
- Into even more communities beyond. (“The uttermost part of the earth”)
- “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
