Young People, Bring Them to Me!

Young People, Bring Them to Me!

(Mid-week message for House Church and individual use: preached 1/24 – 1/30/2021)

Did you know that all twelve of the Apostles were teenagers, except Peter? Yes, and the fact that our Lord left enough information for this fact to be verified shows that it would, could and should be used whenever necessary. The giving of this particular message is one of those necessary times.

Question: Were all of the 12 Apostles, except for Peter, teenagers?

Hypothesis: Only men over 20 years old were required to pay taxes, so if only Peter was required to pay, then the rest of the Apostles were teenagers.

Proof: Jesus only paid taxes for Peter and himself, as recorded in Matthew 17:24-27.

Conclusion: All of the Apostles, except Peter (who was quite apparently in his early twenties) were teenagers. This also includes Matthew, the young professional tax collector, who helped to contribute the data for this conclusion when he was inspired to write the first Gospel and book listed in the New Testament.

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

(Matthew 19:14)

I. Bring young people to Jesus!

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)

     A. You are bringing them to Jesus, not you!

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18)

      B. You are depending on God’s power, not yours!

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18)

     C. You will build up his kingdom, not yours!

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matthew 28:18)

II. Preach to young people about Jesus!

“And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3)

     A. Go for the Son of God!

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19)

     B. Teach through the Word of God!

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19)

     C. Behold what the Holy Spirit of God will do!

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19)

III. Send young people out to bring other young people to Jesus!

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

     A. Jesus will use you!

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)

     B. Jesus will be with you!

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)

     C. Jesus is coming again!

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:20)

Conclusion

Note that is was the year right before he became a teenager, that our Lord Jesus is recorded as saying,

“Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49b)
