Joe Biden Wins the 2020 Presidential Election: What Happens Next?
(Sunday message for House Church and individual use: preached 11/8 – 11/14/2020)
Welcome. Today is Sunday, November 8, 2020. Yesterday, at 1:12 p.m., ET, the Wall Street Journal released an official article that began with these words,
“Former Vice President Joe Biden has been declared the winner of the presidential election by the Associated Press.” (“Joe Biden Wins the 2020 Presidential Election: What Happens Next?” WSJ.com, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones & Company, Inc., https://www.wsj.com/articles/joe-biden-wins-the-2020-presidential-election-what-happens-next-11604772736)
The Tampa Bay Press says,
“[In] his campaign stump speech, Biden promised to be a president who “doesn’t see red states or blue states, only sees the United States,” and said he would work “with all my heart” to win the confidence of all Americans. (“Joe Biden Wins the 2020 Presidential Election: What Happens Next?” Tampabay.com, Tampa Bay Times, https://www.tampabay.com/news/nation-world/2020/11/07/election-2020-live-updates-biden-and-harris-win-whats-next/. Accessed 8 Nov. 2020.)
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a “stump speech” is “a speech that a politician makes in different places in order to get political support.” (“Stump Speech.” Dictionary.Cambridge.org Dictionary, Cambridge University Press 2020, https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/stump-speech. Accessed 8 Nov. 2020.)
The title of the Wall Street Journal’s article, which we just quoted from, is
“Joe Biden Wins the 2020 Presidential Election: What Happens Next?: A guide to [the] next steps . . .” (Ibid.)
Today, we would also like to present you with a guide to what comes next, now that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won the 2020 Campaign to become the President and Vice-President of our great nation, the United States of America. However, since we are the opposite of a secular organization, and certainly not a political one; we must be clear in presenting the views, the dictates, the proposals, and yes, the demands of our favored candidate for the head of this nation and (we dare say) the leadership of the free world.
I. The views of our winning candidate.
You should know what your winning candidate believes.
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Psalm 9:17)
A. Wickedness exists
B. Hell exists
C. Judgement exists
II. The dictates of our winning candidate.
The winning candidate always has things that he asks the people to now do. What is asked of the American people by our winning candidate? What is he asking you to do, now?
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
A. Pray!
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
B. Obey!
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;” (1 Timothy 2:3)
C. Be saved!
“Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4)
III. The proposals of our winning candidate.
The winning candidate must present his proposals before the nation. Even if we don’t respond, he should still attempt to guide us down the right path. What does your winning candidate now propose that you do?
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:7)
A. He proposes that you forsake your way.
B. He proposes that you forsake your thoughts.
C. He proposes that you return to him.
IV. The demands of our winning candidate.
Please turn in your Bibles to Amos, chapter 4.
False prophets vs. the truth for today.
14 “They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
15 “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.
16 “Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 “Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
18 “Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.
19 “Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.” (God, as recorded in Jeremiah 6:14-19)
The stump speech of a prophet of God.
“Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.” (Amos 4:12)
This is a very well known verse of Scripture from the Bible, which many of you have heard before but…
As you listened to this, did you hear, did you consider what the phrase “Therefore thus” and the reference word “this” was referring to, was warning you about? You were told to “prepare to meet thy God” for a reason: so that four horrors, four resulting judgements, which are mentioned in the preceding verses, will not happen to you! Here are those two preceding verses. Here are those four judgements which will come upon most, almost all, of the dwellers of our planet, Earth.
“I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.” (Amos 4:10-11)
A. Prepare to meet thy God and be delivered from pestilence!
“I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt:” (Amos 4:10a)
B. Prepare to meet thy God and be delivered from war!
“Your young men have I slain with the sword,” (Amos 4:10b)
C. Prepare to meet thy God and be delivered from famine!
“And have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.” (Amos 4:10c)
D. Prepare! and be delivered from the wrath of God!
“I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.” (Amos 4:11)
Conclusion
There is no elephant and donkey party; and there is no dual citizenship. There is only the Kingdom of God, or there is the kingdom of the damned.
“While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.” (Hebrews 3:15)
“So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:19, end of the chapters)
