(Mid-week message for House Church and individual use: preached 9/26 – 10/2/2021)

“And he taught, saying unto them, ‘Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Mark 11:17)

Introduction: Jesus’ goal must be our goal!

“And he taught, saying unto them, ‘Is it not written…” (Mark 11:17)

I. This was/is his goal.

“And he taught, saying unto them, ‘Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Mark 11:17)

  • “My house shall be called the house of prayer… (Matthew 21:13)
  • “My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer…” (Mark 11:17)
  • “My house is the house of prayer…” (Luke 19:46)

II. This was not/is not his goal.

“And he taught, saying unto them, ‘Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Mark 11:17)

  • “But ye have made it a den of thieves. (Matthew 21:13)
  • “But ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Mark 11:17)
  • “But ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Luke 19:46)
  • “And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.” (Mark 11:15-16)
